SCAD x Harbor x ETC
During a 10 week period, I was given the opportunity to collaborate with professionals from Harbor Picture Company and Electric Theatre Collective and work with a group of fellow students to create a mock advertisement for our made up brand of gelato: "OMNI", heavily inspired by the smart technology or Oura Rings. I was in a group of five team members including a compositor, a lighting and look dev artist, and 3 FX artists including myself.

Mentor Feedback: Water shot feels a little flat, get the same value range as flower shot - Water shot and cloth shot seem flatter than the rest Sound transition from water to cloth more smoother Camera pop in last shot? Background of shot 1 is too saturated? Needs white highlight on the stand Stand in shot 1 needs a little bit more work, seem plastic- Should not get that gr

Week Seven
Blog posts arranged newest to oldest. To-do: Refine flower vellum simulation Refine shot 3 camera and ring animation Look into adding the frost simulations after completing the flower simulation Mentor Feedback: Is it between paper or real flower? Can’t tell right now, feels like paper - Flower and leaves are missing SSS, everything looks very flat even the environment feels flat Overall colors are a lot better The defrosting can be more organic, right now it is very obviou

Perhaps the yellow background Lighting on shot 1, maybe doesn’t need to

Week Three
Blog posts arranged newest to oldest. To-do: Refine new wind wisp simulations Refine ring animation and shot transitions Do a render test for shot 3 Mentor Feedback: Transitions!! Continue refining the transitions. Be careful of the scale change in the cloud shot, ring might look massive because macro clouds would just be foam - might not be an issue but it’s something to think about Maybe mood represented with abstraction of clouds rather than realistic clouds so audience do

Week Two
Blog posts arranged newest to oldest. To-do: Create dark clouds Work on dark to light cloud transition Create wispy particle trail on ring Work on cloud material Mentor Feedback: Be careful for scale for all of the shot! Flower scene– keep the environment simple, don’t make it overly detail Maybe go macro in the flower scene as well since the other shots are also macro Macro photography with shallow DOF Find elegant ways to transition into each shot Figure out timing of the c
