SCAD Women in Visual Effects Club

In my third and fourth year, I've had the privilege of co-founding and leading the Women in Visual Effects Club at the Savannah College of Art and Design!

Club Mission

SCAD Women is VFX serves as a space for empowerment and support for female and minority SCAD students pursuing careers in visual effects and other technology-related careers.

Founding the Club

The idea first came to my co-founder, Hannah Kim, and I through a conversation about our fears of the industry we were about to enter, being a bit of a "boy's club". We knew the statistics and the women to men ratio or the field and we wanted to make an organization that could lessen the fears of ourselves and our peers. Together, we collected signatures and petitions for the club's formation.

What We Do

As a club, we host work sessions and social events to encourage forming friendships and connection in the industry. We also bring in industry speakers to talk to our members about various topics. So far, we've had the honor of learning from incredible guest speakers such as Sadie Boyd, Jennifer McSpadden, and Alanna Ní Duinnshléibhe. We also keep a social media presence to form community, posting informative graphics and keeping the club informed on events.
